American Foundation, Inc.

From 1,700 people in 1900, the Hindu population in
America grew to approximately 387,000 by 1980 and
1.1 million in 1997. Currently, the estimated U.S.
population of Hindus of Indian origin is approximately
2 million (1.8 million Indian and 200,000 Indo-Caribbean).
Estimates are that there may also be as many as 1
million practicing American Hindus, not of Indian
origin, in the U.S.
